PERSONAL ORGANISERS

"More than a diary"

Using Microsoft Outlook

If you have Outlook, you can save notes of meetings along with address information. Use the Calendar function to enter in actions, and then if you have too many actions postpone some until other dates until you might have more time to accomplish them.

Using Palm Pilots and Hand Held Personal Assistants

When you are away from your computer and you need to call people, or people call you for information, do you have it readily accessible? Remote workers require Palm Pilots (3Com) or other Hand Held Personal Assistants to keep this information readily available. Palm Pilots, for instance, can synchronize with your PC so that your diary, contact list, price lists, etc. are all readily available for speaking with people when you are away from the office.

Using Contact Management Software

Act, Goldmine, Saleslogix, etc. are all useful tools to have if you are doing direct marketing involving mailshots, faxshots, advertising etc. Any of these contact management software tools enable you to keep track of who was sent what, when, and who responded. Also and more importantly is information such as which clients are Prospects from which are existing Customers, versus who are Suspects and who are Leads. This kind of classification enables sales and marketing people to establish who to focus on for what kind of activity.
